Know Your Crowns

Broken tooth will lead to several dental problems in the long run unless you have them repaired ASAP. Apart from health issues, you may also feel self-conscious as they could easily show whenever you’re laughing or talking with people. Depending on the extent of damage and decay, if large, we will most likely recommend that you get dental crowns. These are small caps that are fitted over a damaged tooth in order to restore its shape and strength. Since it fits over a tooth, it’ll also protect it from further damage in the future.

There are several types of dental crowns available today, depending on your needs. Some of the most popular ones are:

Porcelain pressed (or fused) to metal crowns – the most common type of crowns available today. It’s made from a precious or non-precious metal base where several layers of porcelain are applied on top of it to give it a more natural look.

All porcelain crowns – these caps are made entirely from porcelain. They are not as strong as all metal crowns but they’ll look far more natural and would blend well with the rest of your teeth.

All Zirconia crowns – the most modern type of dental crowns are those made from Zirconia, a crystaline material. It allows it to have the strength of a metal crown while having the natural-looking appearance of a porcelain one.

Regardless of the type of crown that we recommend, you’ll know that we are using the right crown for you! The process for making and placing a crown will take a couple of appointments. Contact us today to make an appointment, and let us know what you’d like to see happen for your smile!
